Sundarban Coastal

Police Station

The Sundarban Delta comprises of at least a 100 Islands among which only 05 Islands are inhabited by the native people of Sundarban. There are also large numbers of tributaries and water channels leading to the Bay of Bengal. The Sundarban Delta has 72 km of porous border with Bangladesh. The islands are inhabited by local fishermen and native people who earn their livelihood by fishing from the riverine area and collecting honey from the reserved forests. Prior to the setting of Sundarban Coastal Police Station and other Coastal PS like Mahipith Coastal PS and Frezargunge Coastal PS these areas remained out of the ambit of police.
